How Does It Work?
The iOC scanner digitally captures the structure of the teeth and gums using the latest optical technology. The scanner is a compact, hand-held wand. Once your orthodontist begins the scanning process, it can be stopped and started as many times as necessary.
It scans the mouth with a radiation-free laser and, in six to eight minutes, renders a digitally perfect, 3-D impression of the teeth and soft tissue structures. Through digital software you'll then be able to follow the progress of the scans including a three-dimensional model of your teeth on our computer screen. The iOC scanner can be used for any orthodontic treatment including self-ligating braces and Invisalign.
Impressions taken with the iOC scanner are perfect every time and last a lifetime. If a patient loses their retainer they can easily replace it no matter where they are or how long they were without their retainer. Along with OrthoCAD iQ, the iOC scanner allows us to diagnose, plan & treat our patients with an unprecedented level of accuracy and efficiency - which equals less visits & less time in treatment!
